Miskatonic High
The small New England town of Miskatonic always seemed like a nice place to live. But as the leaves turn color and the nights grow longer, a group of students from Miskatonic High are going to learn that their universe is not what they think it is.
A cup of chills, a tablespoon of humor, and a pinch of real-life pathos make up the mixture for this new series from writer Mike Shea and artist Ryan Mendoza. Through the six-issue first season, Alex, Matt, Sarah, Simon and Ren will travel through time to come face to face with the Mad Arab Abdul Alhazred and his Necronomicon, descend into the darkest pits under the earth, and learn what is really going on in the public library when no one is looking.
Available at Etsy (physical and digital), Goodreads and Amazon.
For Miskatonic High, my role comes at the end of the process! Mike and Ryan plot, script, draw and letter their comic, and then I receive a proof PDF. I make notes on how character dialogue, voice and lettering can be adjusted for improved results—they make those changes, and off it goes!
I started working on MH with issue ten’s Kickstarter release. Since then, the direct-market reissues of issues 1-9 have also come across my desk. If you buy Miskatonic High from your local comic shop, you’ll be seeing the version I’ve contributed to.
If you were an original Kickstarter supporter of Miskatonic High’s early issues (1-9), you won’t have seen my work on those issues.
