Claire Napier is a comics editor, critic and cartoonist.

She is currently available for hire.

I’m lifelong comics reader, starting with Bunty as a child, reviving the interest with British graphic novels, international webcomics, American monthly comics and manga as a teenager. Having been involved with comics communities since y2k, I moved into criticism and commentary with adulthood—helping build, fill and run WWAC first as Features Editor and then as Editor in Chief. Leaving that website in 2021, I moved my criticism to Patreon, and later The Comics Journal.

Since 2017 I’ve been a freelance editor for independent comics. My first book was Hari Connor’s very successful Finding Home, the story of a slowly-building queer romance between two troubled wanderers. Since then I’ve built many strong and ongoing relationships with creators, on series and one-shot works.

I have been a cartoonist as a regular lifetime practice.

I studied Animation and Illustration at Bolton University between 2006 and 2009. I attended SGGS for secondary education, and completed an Art Foundation year at Warwickshire College.

Let’s work together! I’m ready to help your comic shine.
