Lens
A one-shot? Sometimes, one shot is all it takes whether you’re an award-winning photojournalist or the world’s greatest assassin. And if you’re both? Well…your name is probably Jane Danner and someone is about to wind up dead.
Originally serialised in six-parts, LENS collects the first story arc of Gary Moloney and Raquel Kusiak’s espionage thriller.
Available at Gumroad and Little Deer Comics.
LENS was developed for my magazine project BUN&TEA: stories had to be of up to eight pages and in six parts. Gary pitched me his idea, and we workshopped the structure of each part to optimise it. I believe that Raquel has also shown interest in BUN&TEA, and I suggested her to Gary, who only wanted to write, as his collaborator. He knew a good thing when he saw it, and Lens came into being.
I gave Gary notes on his scripts until we were both happy, and Raquel on her layouts and lettering. Kat Overland proofread the final pages.
Only one issue of BUN&TEA made it to publication, but as Gary and Raquel had chosen to complete their story with me, in its six parts, all at once, Gary was able to collect their pages into one perfect, award-nominated volume.
I’ve worked with both creators since—Gary on an unannounced Fantasy project, and Raquel on That Was a Magical Knight.
