Jude first contacted me to work on Cup 8 of Cafe Suada, and we worked together on Cup 9 after that! For Cup 8, they sent me an outline with dialogue, and I sent back notes. We workshopped any sticking places, and Jade went away and drew the pages. Before he started working on Cup 9, Jude went through my Writing Better Characters eBook in order to reorient themselves on where the characters were at this point; how they’d developed over the course of the story. With his answers to the questions, I looked at whether or not the outlined scenes and planned dialogue for Cup 9 could be pushed in any more purposeful directions, or more clearly express the evolutions the characters were going through. Once again, we workshopped my notes and their thoughts—and then Jade took all of that thinking, and drew the beautiful pages you all see.
